e-Spania. Revue interdisciplinaire d'études hispaniques médiévales
e-Spania (2006-) is an electronic periodical publication dedicated to the Medieval Spanish Culture; it has emerged to provide response to the great development of the Hispanic medieval studies known in the course of the last decade. As a specialized journal it appears twice per year (june, december).
The publication is supported by the University of Sorbonne (Paris, France). The editorial staff is directed by George Martin (Université Paris-Sorbonne, UFR Études Ibériques et Latino-Américaines), and well helped by Hélène Thieulin-Pardo (Rédaction); Olivier Biaggini, Estelle Maintier-Vermorel et Isabelle Rousseau (Secrétariat); and Bernard Darbord, J.-P. Jardin and Patricia Rochwert-Zuili (Conseil de rédaction). They work as a scientific commitee to provide and to assure the quality of the contributions.
The contents of each half-yearly on line edition are always related to a main topic; althought it is possible to obtain the possibility to read interesting essays about many other topics at the Varia section, but always in relation to the main topic of the Hispanic medieval culture. Every issue number provides, on each monographical, the experience of different high centers of researching, both in France and other contributors from other countries, mainly europeans. e-Spania is presented as an interdisciplinary virtual space for any linguistic, literary or historic researching in relation with the Iberian peninsula at the Middle Age. In fact, the publishers prefers the studies about the History of Powers at the Castilian-Leonese area, specially well valued are the reflections on Historiography and Iconography. But, furthermore, the researching on the History of the women at the top of the social power are also well valued.
e-Spania provides to researchers an on-line free access to the contents, that also can be free exported on "pdf" format. All the articles can be printed and posted. There is a very interesting system of referencing and quoting for on-line publications, where the number of the page is replaced by the number of each paragraph. The link technology is very well applied to the system of lecture notes by two moments; the first one at the paragraph side to obtain an easy overview ot note, and the second by the clicking link to the full text of the note, with a return link to the exact reading place.
As an OAI (Open Archives Initiative) the e-Spania publications are available on line at the main searching tools on Internet. The languagues of writting and edition are mainly French and Spanish, but could be accepted others.
