Zeitschrift für Geschichtsdidaktik (ZfGD)
Though only started in 2002, the Zeitschrift für Geschichtsdidaktik [Journal for History Didactics] (ZfGD) has been able to establish itself as one of the leading journals in the field of historical and political education. It is funded and supported by the Konferenz für Geschichtsdidaktik. Verband der Geschichtsdidaktikerinnen und Geschichtsdidaktiker Deutschlands e.V. [German Society for History Didactics] (KGD).
The journal focuses on various questions and issues associated with the teaching and learning of history – primarily with regard to educational work carried out in schools, but also in other places and institutions. Each issue contains articles related to a feature topic. Over the past years, this included “Holocaust-Education”(2012), “Spatial Concepts” (2011) or “Bilingualism” (2009). These articles are followed by a section in which recent research projects or scholarly issues not related to the issue’s feature topic can be discussed. Finally, each issue ends with a comprehensive review section presenting the most important publications from the field of history didactics.
As supplements, the Beihefte der Zeitschrift für Geschichtsdidaktik (Beih. ZfGD) feature conference reports as well as significant qualification studies from the field of history didactics. Their print release is partially funded by the KGD.

The reviews are published on recensio.net one year after the initial release (Moving Wall).
