The internationally renowned Zeitschrift fuer Ostmitteleuropa-Forschung (ZfO) [Journal for East-Central European Research], which was published as Zeitschrift für Ostforschung [Journal for Eastern Research] between 1952 and 1994, is a platform for publishing and discussing new results on the history or culture of those historical countries and regions that are primarily today’s states of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
It offers articles, smaller essays, research reports, review essays and book reviews in German and English, and is published by leading scholars of the history of Eastern Central Europe on behalf of the Herder Institute.
