Schweizerische Zeitschrift für Geschichte
The Swiss Journal of History [Schweizerische Zeitschrift für Geschichte] (SJH) is edited by the Swiss Society for History (SSH). Its predecessors have been the Journal for Swiss History [Zeitschrift für Schweizerische Geschichte] (1921–1950) and the Indicator of Swiss History [Anzeiger für schweizerische Geschichte] (1873–1920).
The SZG publishes academic articles on Swiss and general history in German, French, Italian and English. Every article is preceded by an English abstract. The journal has an elaborate review section and different rubrics, for instance “Debates” and “Recent Questions – historically seen”. The reviews primarily focus on publications evolving from academic qualifications (doctoral and postdoctoral dissertations) about Swiss history or by historians working in Switzerland. The quality of the academic articles is secured by a peer review process.
The journal appears three times a year (April, August, December), concurrently printed and online. The digital edition is available in Open Access via the eLibrary of Schwabe Publishers. Older issues can be found on e-periodica.
Members of the SSH receive free copies of the printed edition three times a year. Additionally SSH members enjoy numerous other priviliges.
